Classification of capacitive sensors, common types of capacitive sensors

A little knowledge about capacitive sensors, let me talk about the classification method of capacitive sensors, according to the working principle and measurement principle of the sensor, what types are they divided into, and what is the scope of application of different types of sensors

Types of Capacitive Sensors

1. Classification by working principle

According to the working principle of capacitive sensors, there are three types:

(1) Variable pole pitch type with variable pole plate spacing

The characteristics of the variable electrode spacing type capacitive sensor: the capacitance is inversely proportional to the electrode spacing. Mainly used to measure displacement.

(2) Variable area type with the coverage area of the variable pole plate

The characteristics of the variable-pole-covered-area-type capacitive sensor: the capacitance is proportional to the amount of area change. Mainly used to measure linear displacement and angular displacement.

(3) Variable medium type with variable dielectric constant

The characteristics of the variable dielectric capacitive sensor: the dielectric constant of different media is different, the detection of the measured value is realized by changing the dielectric constant of the medium, and it is reflected by the change of the capacitance of the capacitive sensor.

Mainly used for occasions where the dielectric constant of the medium changes.

2. Classification by measurement principle

According to different measurement principles, capacitive sensors are divided into variable area sensors, variable pole distance sensors, and variable medium sensors.

(1) The area change type is generally used to measure angular displacement or large linear displacement.

(2) The pole pitch change type is generally used to measure small pole pitch changes.

(3) The medium change type is often used for level measurement and the determination of temperature, density and humidity of various media.

The above has introduced the different classification methods of capacitive sensors, as well as the common types of capacitive sensors, I hope to help everyone.
